Moles tend to fade and sometimes disappear over a span of 50 years of so.  For some individuals, their moles will disappear entirely.

Moles are rarely found to be cancerous.  Researchers have yet to determine what causes people to develop moles although the extent of a person’s moles seems to be genetic.  Exposure to the sun will sometimes bring out moles more prominently.

Mole Laser Removal – Possible Dangers

Any sudden change in appearance of a mole may be a warning sign of a more serious condition and you should see your medical specialist if you notice a recent change.

People are sometimes interested in removing moles for cosmetic reasons or because they are located in an area that rubs against clothing such as a waste line area. If you doctor determines your mole is malignant melanoma, mole laser removal is necessary to prevent it from developing into skin cancer.

One of the older and common practices of removing unwanted moles is to numb the skin and then remove the mole with a scalpel or scissors.  The consequences of this procedure include scarring and an inconsistency of the thickness of the skin in that area.

Mole laser removal is the newest method of removing unwanted moles. The advantages of this method include less discomfort.  People that have experienced this method of mole removal say it’s similar to a snapping of a rubber band and causes a slight tingling sensation when the laser light pulses.  The laser seals off the blood vessels of the mole and removes the tissue.  No cutting of the skin is necessary which means fewer issues with scarring.

As the area heals, a scab will form.  This will fall off in about 2 week’s time. This will be followed by redness in the area but in time this too will disappear.

Mole laser removal can be expensive and is usually not covered by health insurance unless it is determined to be precancerous by your physician.  You would need to check with your insurance carrier beforehand to find out their policy. If you have to pay out of pocket for mole laser removal, the bill will likely be expensive.
