Stretch Mark Removal
There are two big causes of stretch marks. They are weight gain and pregnancies. Stretch marks are caused when the skin is stretched so rapidly that the skin’s natural elastic fibers break. They can also be caused by certain medications and diseases but this is rare.
Stretch Mark Removal – Why Stretch Marks Form
The stretched skin layer is replaced with scar tissue. Even after the weight is lost and the pregnancy is over, the scar tissue remains behind. Common areas to find stretch marks are the stomach, breasts, arms, and
upper thigh area. They pose no physical threat but many feel they are unsightly and many women desire to find the best approach to stretch mark removal.
The market is flooded with products that claim to remove stretch marks. Oils, creams and fancy rubs but none of these products can remove stretch marks completely.
Stretch Mark Removal with Laser – Success Rate
Laser stretch mark removal has been very successful at removing unwanted scar tissue. Although lasers do not claim to remove stretch marks entirely, lasers are more successful than any other method currently available.
The laser uses a target beam of light that will treat the area by removing these thin layers of skin. Lasers also stimulate collagen growth and elastic remodeling which improves the look of the skin.
After stretch mark removal treatment is done, the skin will heal and form healthy undamaged skin tissue.
Laser usually will require multiple treatments. The amount and the duration of the treatments will depend on the amount of stretch marks to be treated and the severity of the scar tissue. The newer the stretch mark the easier it is to remove while mature stretch marks are more difficult and may only be able to be reduced rather than removed entirely.
You’ll feel a stinging discomfort as the lasers work.
After the treatments, you can experience swelling, bruising and possibly blistering. As the skin heals, all of these conditions will disappear. You may also experience a temporary change in the coloring or pigment of the skin in that area but that is also a temporary condition and will also disappear.
Laser removal will be expensive. The cost will be determined on the amount of area to be treated. The cost can only be determined when you visit the health care facility and get an evaluation and estimate. Each case is different and is dependent on many factors.
You may find your doctor will work out a finance plan with you or offer a medical line of credit through a third party. Usually the medical office’s will work with you to make stretch mark removal affordable.
